WISER at Duke
DukeEngage
Duke Engage, a program sponsored by the Duke Endowment and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, allows Duke undergraduate students to pursue service projects around the globe by funding their travel and living expenses. After debuting its pilot program in the summer of 2007, DukeEngage has successfully launched. WISER is proud to be a part of the opportunities DukeEngage affords.
Summer 2009
Duke students: are you interested in a summer with WISER and DukeEngage? Now is the time to start planning ahead.
In the summer of 2009, 12 students will live in Muhuru Bay to work with WISER in areas such as mircofinance, technology, health, and education. Applications are available through DukeEngage and are due Feb. 15, 2009. Be sure to check the WISER box on the application, and contact Sherryl Broverman at sbrover@duke.edu for more specific information.
Summer 2007
Eight Duke students spent their summer in Muhuru Bay working with WISER through the DukeEngage. In its pilot stage, the program allowed students to conduct service and research projects in specialty areas, including education strategy, leadership, health, construction, technology and microfinance. Read more about their experiences in their Summer 2007 blog.
