Partners

About

WISER partners with primary and secondary schools to involve their students in raising funds for WISER and building awareness of the opportunities WISER creates for young people in Muhuru Bay. Each school raises $1000 per year toward a girl’s scholarship at WISER.

Mission

Our mission is three-fold: educate, empower and excite students to raise awareness, funds, and enthusiasm to support girls’ education in Muhuru Bay. The Partner Schools program looks to connect students with students in Muhuru Bay not as a charitable project, but rather as an international exchange of ideas, support, and empowerment. We are looking to partner with a total of 30 schools around the country to provide 100% of our first year of students with full scholarships to attend WISER.

The American School in Switzerland

In addition to raising USD $1000 per year, WISER Partner Schools also become engaged in other enrichment and empowerment programs for students in Muhuru Bay. In the video below, you will see the first women’s soccer tournament in Muhuru Bay, Kenya which was made possible by the WISER Chapter at the American School in Switzerland (TASIS), led by Kelly Teagarden, which donated 15 soccer balls and 29 jerseys to the WISER NGO. TASIS also hosted Andy Cunningham as a Senior Humanities speaker and has invited Dr. Rose Odhiambo to be this year’s Commencement Speaker in Lugano, Switzerland. Two TASIS faculty members have also sponsored the second WISER Women’s Soccer Tournament in April of 2009. Engage, excite and empower. TASIS is one of WISER’s model Partner Schools.
